Anagach Woods

Anagach Woods date back to 1766 when Grantown was established as a new Highland industrial town. There are several waymarked trails (see pdf map in birdwatching walks section). These woods should provide visiting birders with the specialities of Speyside including scottish crossbill pictured, crested tit and there's always a chance of capercaillie in the eastern section. However certain sections are corderned off to protect capercaillie between april and august to avoid disturbance.
Anagach woods are very popular with walkers and particularly dog walkers so it is vital to visit very early in the morning to enjoy the birdlife.
