Recent Achievements
Ran two courses for primary school children in Bulawayo and in Harare
Secured funding from the RSPB for a further education programme for teachers and children in 1998
Campaigned alongside government agencies and chemical companies, leading to the prohibition of the use of monocrotophos, a pesticide that is highly toxic to birds and use of which had led to the death of thousands of Swainson's Hawks
Set up, with assistance from Vogelbescherming Nederland, an IBA programme in the country. The first phase is prioritising temperate and subtropical grasslands in the country

Created a volunteer group to work in environmental education projects and to survey new interesting sites
Received a Turner Foundation grant to carry out conservation activities
Ran two courses, funded by the African Bird Club conservation fund, to introduce school leavers to ornithology
Opened a breeding and rehabilitation centre for threatened birds in an educational reserve near the Iguazu Falls
Continued the Pampas Argentinas Project to protect important temperate and subtropical grasslands. This included campaigns for raising conservation awareness, and warning against the improper use of pesticides
In association with Guyra Paraguay, continued with fieldwork on the endangered Saffron-cowled Blackbird of Argentina and Paraguay Revamped their public image and adopted a new name, Aves Argentinas/AOP
