Birding Azores

Birding Azores

The Azores archipelago has become a more popular destination for European birdwatchers in recent years. The main attractions are the endemic Azores Bullfinch, the "Priôlo", a good chance to see a great variety of Nearctic waders, and productive sea watching. As isolated islands far out in the sea, the numbers of vagrants are never high, but have proven to consist of an exciting mixture of birds from east and west. Here there are good opportunities to find one or two vagrants very rare anywhere in the Western Palearctic.
The Azores offers a breath-taking landscape, interesting history and culture, and for those interested good chances to spot whales and dolphins. In other words, a perfect destination for a combined holiday!
Excellent site operated by Staffan Rodebrand and Bosse Carlsson.

Azores High

Azores High

Our rustic farmhouse can accommodate four adults in two rooms, a double and a twin, or the double can become a family suite, with two children in an adjoining room. Both double and twin have en suite bathrooms. From June 2006 we also have an additional option of a self-catering chalet, which is situated at the top of the garden, enjoying the fabulous view of Pico. This has a double room, shower room, kitchen/diner and sitting room. The latter can become a second bedroom by the use of the two bed-settees. There is a purpose-built barbecue area for outside cooking and dining. Click here for further information and prices.
