BirdLife Belarus

Belarus is a country of Bee-eaters and Great Grey Owls, Terek Sandpipers and Great White Egrets. Our woodlands are home to Wolves and Bears, Lynxes and Elks.
Recently Belarus has become famous for its wetlands -- the country has more than 20,800 rivers and 10,000 lakes. The Pripiat river flood plain (950 km?) is recognized as the biggest intact natural flood plain in Europe. Tens of thousand of waterfowl use this watercourse biannually for migration and many for breeding. It is the westernmost breeding site of the beautiful and rare Azure Tit.
