Bridges of Ross

Bridges of Ross is situated on the north side of the Loop Head peninsula and is best known as an excellent autumn seawatching site.There are also breeding seabirds similar to those at the Cliffs of Moher,with raven, chough and peregrine all present, but autumn migration is when this site is at its most interesting. Skuas including pomarine Stercorarius pomarinus pictured, and shearwaters are numerous in late summer with petrels and regular grey phalarope.

Optimum seawatching conditions are after north-westerly gales and birders can expect sabine's gull, leach's and Storm Petrels (there are also records for fae's petrel and Swinhoe’s Petrel Further information from Clare Birdwatching and parties of little auk during winter.
The site also has records for passerine migrants such as black-headed, little and rustic buntings, arctic warbler
