Bridgwater Bay

Bridgwater Bay NNR is a large area of lintertidal mudflats with saltmarsh situated on the north Somerset coast. 5km north of Bridgwater it includes the lower reaches of the River Parrett and its estuary, (which is the best area for birds) where it flows into the Bristol Channel. Along the coast the site extends north to the town of Burnham-on-Sea and as far west as the village of Lilstock.
Vast numbers of wintering waders and wildfowl visit the area and some species use the site as a stop-off on migration routes.
