Recent Achievements
CNAP has accumulated great experience over nine years of work in biodiversity conservation management through the development of the National System of Protected Areas in Cuba. Achievements have included the establishment of protected areas legislation, with the first law of Protected Areas in Cuba, in 1999
The centre have achieve the declaration of the first 32 protected areas legally recognized by the Cuban government in 2002, and the implementation of several protected areas through the development of necessary infrastructure and administrative mechanisms
CNAP also has vast experience in implementing of conservation projects with international financing. CNAP is currently implementing more than seven projects with international support, the most important being the UNEP-GEF funded Strengthening of National System of Protected Areas since 2003
