Epworth Turbary

An area of raised bog ,reed swamp, mixed fen, heath and birch wood lying close to the village of Epworth, this Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust reserve is a SSSI.Breeding birds include great-spotted and green woodpecker,willow warbler in summer pictured ,woodcock, willow tit and tree pipit, but the reserve also attracts migrant waders including regular green sandpiper and greenshank.Ponds have many species of breeding dragonflies and damselflies, which attract visiting hobby.
Parking
The car park entrance is situated near a bend so extreme care should be taken when entering or leaving the reserve. Park through the gate, which should be kept closed, or on the verge adjoining the reserve; it is advisable to park well away from the corner.
