Grizedale Forest occupies the fellside between Coniston Water and Esthwaite Water. The visitor centre lies on the Hawkshead to Satterthwaite road. There are two specially designed ‘easy going trails’ suitable for wheelchair users. These are the Ridding Wood Trail and the Millwood Trail. They feature even surfaces and gentle slopes to enable visitors with mobility difficulties to explore the forest and enjoy the views and the various woodland sculptures for which Grizedale is famous.
It is the largest forest in the Lake District; six thousand acres of woodland.
Crossbill ,Siskin and Woodcock,possible Goshawk, Honey Buzzard, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Hawfinch, Wood Warbler.
