Hartlepool Headland

The historic Hartlepool Headland is at the northern end of the town and is home to several historic sites pertaining to Hartlepool’s rich history. Hartlepool Headland is formed on a peninsular of magnesium limestone which stretches out into the North Sea. Like all East coast 'headlands' it is a particulary rewarding sea watching location and the surrounding gardens, trees and shrubs are attractive to birds during times of migration (paticularly in Autumn. Over the years it has recorded many rareities including white-throated robin (2011) ,thrush nightingale, (2013), see videos.
There are numerous birdwatching 'hotspots' in the area, such as St. Mary's Churchyard, The Bowling Green etc.
