Fan-tailed Warbler Cisticola juncidis

Length 10 cm.

Except for goldcrest and firecrest,(Regulus) (9cm) ,Fan-tailed warbler is the smallest of the Western Palearctic Sylviidae.Gives appearance of a small 'short tailed' warbler with heavy streaking to the upperparts and head.Short 'blunt' wings with black and white tipped tail, especially noticeable from underside (see third photograph).
Underparts , throat, breast and belly white with a buffish wash to flanks.Legs flesh coloured / to light orange.
Delivers monotonous zeep-zeep-zeep when rising from perch to perform undulating display flight.
