L85 -97 CM.Wing span 170 - 192CM.Unmistakeable large black / white seabird which is often seen in numbers fishing offshore.Flies with a glide punctuated with a series of fast shallow wing beats.Gains height before plunging with a breathtaking dive headlong into fish shoals, folding the wings into its back before impact.Adults white with black wing tips.Also shows a yellowish-buff head.Juv: brown /grey and then shows less and less black between 2nd - 4th winter until full adult plumage is obtained.
