28 acre site situated at the mouth of the Dee Estuary opposite Hilbre Island. Red Rocks Marsh is managed by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.A SSSI with sand dunes and reedbeds and an important National reserve in that it forms the only breeding colony of natterjack toads (Bufo calamita) on the Wirral Peninsula.The marsh lies just above the high water mark, just behind the Royal Liverpool Golf Course. Over 200 species of birds have been recorded and is a regular wintering site for snow bunting pictured.
