Sizergh

Sizergh is a stately home and garden at Helsington in the county of Cumbria United Kingdom, about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Kendal. The castle, a grade I listed building, is in the care of the National Trust along with its garden and estate. The estate covers 647 hectares (1,600 acres) of varied landscapes, but the main attraction for birders are the stands of Hornbeam trees which attract good numbers of Hawfinch which can often be viewed at the car park area.
Government grant funding (2015) has helped towards further habitat improvements at Sizergh as it lies within the 'Morecambe Bay Nature Improvement area', with 35 ha of wetland habitat being created in the Lyth Valley on the western edge of the estate where it is hoped to attract bittern and other wetland birds. For more information click any of the icons below
