Nightjar churring and flight call in wavefile and spectogram

The nightjar's strange call

Nightjar 'churring' ,(the bird's long rythmical sound) is usually heard primarily around dusk or just before sunrise, although churring can occur at all times of the night, and also during the day if birds are disturbed around nesting territory.
Churring can often last for several minutes and will change pitch during delivery, which is given from an elevated position (lying horizontal on a branch for example) or low to the ground (tree stump amongst clear fell areas). The 'qwek' flight call (above recording) is given by both sexes.Nightjar's are much less vocal on cold wet nights.
Please DO NOT play these sound recordings using a smartphone around suspected nightjar territory as this will cause serious disturbance.
