Thornley Woodlands Centre

Interpretative centre, serving the woodlands of the Derwent Walk Country Park.
Facilities include displays and information, events, toilets and parking. Off the A694 at Rowlands Gill. Bus stop next to the Centre.
The Cafe is open daily, 10am to 4pm Summer 2016.
The cafe serves delicious locally produced and seasonal food, including healthy homemade soups, toasties, and hot and cold drinks.
Visitor Centre opening times:
10am - 4pm Monday to Friday
10am - 4pm Saturday and Sunday
Closed between Christmas and New Year
Volunteer Countryside Rangers at the visitor centre will be able to provide information on the Derwent Walk and Gateshead's countryside, as well as drinks when the cafe is not open.
Common woodland birds including great spotted woodpecker, bullfinch pictured, crossbill, pied flycatcher, redstart, kingfisher and goosander (river) , red kite, and buzzard. Also a great place to see red squirrel
