Titchmarsh Nature Reserve

Fabulous reserve situated in the Nene valley.Goosander, wigeon and gadwall reach nationally important numbers at Titchmarsh in winter with spectacular starling murmurations. In spring there is a large heronry, and ground nesting birds include snipe, reed, cetti's and sedge warbler.Other birds include common buzzard, cormorant and red kite.
Hobbies regularly visit the site hunting for dragonflies, whilst autumn brings passge waders such as wood sandpiper.
The Nene Way footpath is a good place to see butterflies. Along the riverbanks, nettle beds are used as perches for huge numbers of banded demoiselle damselflies, while the floating vegetation in the River Nene provides resting sites for the red-eyed damselfly. The larger dragonflies, particularly brown, southern and migrant hawkers, patrol sheltered sections of Harper's Brook.
