Urho Kekkonen National Park

Urho Kekkonen National Park is Finland’s second largest protected area. It spans from Raututunturi Fells and Saariselkä in the north to Savukoski’s extensive forests and the River Nuorttajoki in the south. The National Park was established to preserve forest, mire and fell habitats in forested (Metsä-Lappi) and southern (Perä-Pohjola) parts of Lapland and to preserve the preconditions necessary to practice reindeer husbandry and traditional hiking in the wilderness.
